One of the most popular ways to travel to the Cyclades from Athens is by ferry. There are several ferry companies that operate routes from the port of Piraeus, which is located just a short metro ride from the city centre or airport. These ferries usually take around 5-8 hours, depending on the destination island. It’s a good idea to book your ferry tickets in advance, especially during the peak travel season.
Another option is to fly to one of the islands with domestic flights. There are airports in Mykonos, Santorini and Paros, and flights from Athens to these islands take around 45 minutes.
If you’re looking for a more adventurous way to get to the Cyclades, you can also opt for a sea taxi. These are private boats that can take you directly to your desired island, but this can be more expensive than the ferry or flight option.
